DreaD Images Photography
Tell us about how you got into doing boudoir
photography-
Well...I can tell you how I became interested in
photography....I grew up in rural northern California
and my parents didn't believe in modern media, so
we were kinda bored kids. Someone gave my
sisters and I a used camera, it had no flash and
took 110 film. My sisters and I would play dress up
and take pictures, then our parents would develop
them and it was pretty much the most fun!
What brought you to V13V?
Well, like I said, my sisters and I would play "dress
up" and take pictures....Tawny Kay who owns this
site and models on it is my older sister, I guess
you could say we are still just playing dress up, the
game never got boring!
What are your favorite subjects and why?
I think I take a lot of picture because my parents
didn't take many pictures of me as a baby, I think
this is what inspires me to photograph children,
childhood is a fleeting moment in time and my own
childhood remains undocumented.
I became enamoured with plus sized pinup
photography because of the endless possibilities.
It's so creative. Then I got hooked on seeing the
look in my model's eyes when they loved it! There
is something extra feminine about rounder and
curvier women and I admire that but I also really
enjoy being part of a movement that is about
tolerance and acceptance and co-existing and
creating. It appeals to the humanitarian in me and I
am so overwhelmingly proud of my images that I
have created for V13V I have had the pleasure to
do most of Tawny Kay's sets and I have shot
Genevieve and Robyn Graves. These women were
both fierce and soft and the contrast of their spirit
and their form plays nicely in my camera lens.
What Inspires you the most in other artist's work?
Honestly, I steal a lot of ideas from Anne Geddes,
I have a book about her and her work and I
learned so much! I'm sure you can see her
influence in my work.
Tell me an interesting story from a past photo shoot
Well every photo shoot has its own story....I've had
scantily clad pinup model's shoots interrupted by
peeping elderly women, the cops and small
children, That's always awkward and good for a
few laughs! I was once trying to shoot a new born
baby in a bath, and the baby pooped in the water,
this was funny and unexpected and caused an
abrupt stop to the photo shoot!
